Carson Newby serves as Chief Operating Officer of Thurston Laboratories, LLC, where he oversees company-wide operations spanning field services, laboratory testing, and plant and facility management. His leadership supports both traditional construction materials testing and the company’s expanding commercial test and measurement capabilities, with a focus on operational efficiency, quality assurance, and client satisfaction.

Carson began his career with Thurston Testing Laboratory in 2016, working directly alongside founder Dan Thurston in both field and laboratory environments. This early experience provided a strong foundation in test and measurement principles, data integrity, quality control systems, and regulatory compliance—core disciplines that translate across testing industries, including electronic and instrumentation-based laboratories.

After four years with the company, Carson intentionally broadened his professional experience across construction, mining, and industrial operations critical to the Northeastern Nevada region. In these roles, he developed a broader operational skill set encompassing process planning, plant maintenance, equipment reliability, safety management, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams. This cross-industry exposure strengthened his ability to manage complex operational environments and align technical work with business objectives.

In early 2024, Carson returned to Thurston Laboratories as Chief Operating Officer, bringing a systems-oriented approach to operational leadership. He is responsible for strategic operations planning, laboratory and field integration, facility and equipment oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives. His work emphasizes consistency, safety, scalability, and adherence to rigorous testing standards, ensuring the company delivers accurate, defensible results across all service lines.

Carson is known for his hands-on leadership style and active engagement with clients, contractors, and internal teams. By combining ground-level technical understanding with executive-level operational oversight, he plays a key role in positioning Thurston Laboratories for sustained growth and long-term success.
