Adobe Middle School

This $17 million dollar school was built to consolidate 6th through 8th grades in Elko, replacing Elko Jr. High School and alleviating crowding in local elementary schools. Construction began in 2006 and Adobe Middle School opened its doors for students in 2007. Site improvements continued into 2008. Thurston Laboratories (then Thurston Test Lab) provided testing and quality control throughout the project, performing more than 200 soil density tests, monitored and tested the placement of 5000 yards of concrete, inspected masonry rebar, mortar, and grout, and performed nearly 100 concrete moisture and vapor emissions tests on finished slabs.
