This 36 million dollar project included the construction of a new school and improvements to local roads to accommodate increased traffic. Construction began on the 97,000 square foot school in 2018 and was completed ahead of schedule in 2019. The school opened to students that same year. Thurston Laboratories (then Thurston Test Lab) was involved in all phases of the project from site work to interior finishing.

Thurston Laboratories performed nearly 300 soil density tests, monitored and tested 72 concrete pours, inspected rebar, hot mix asphalt placement, and vapor emission testing to ensure the integrity of finish flooring. Today Liberty Peak Elementary School is home to 600 students and one of the top performing schools in Elko County School District.
